PRE-SCHOOL & KINDER CLASSES
Mommy and Me: Tiny Tots - Tumble and Twirl - Ages 2.5 -3.5 (30 min per week) - 10 Week Sessions
With such a big demand for our pre-school classes last year, we have decided to bring back this class for our youngest and newest dance enthusiasts who are looking for a fun introduction to the world of dance and music. This class will focus on basic ballet steps, creative movement concepts, music appreciation and simple tumbling balance and coordination skills. Classes will be offered in 10 week sessions (Oct & Jan).
Performance in year end production will be considered if there is expressed interest.

Creative Kids - Ballet/Tap/Tumbling - Combo class - Ages 3.5 - 4.5 (60 min per week)
This class will build upon the base already established in the tiny tots class. Students will be exposed to a wider range of steps and tumbling skills as well as an introduction into the wonderful world of tap dancing! Dancers will perform 2 routines in the year end production but will only require one costume.

Kinder dance - Jazz/Pre-Primary & Primary Acro - Combo Class - Ages 5/6 - (60 min per week)
The Kinder dance class continues to work upon the basic skills established in the creative kids dance program as well as introduce students to the fun world of jazz! Acrobatic dance is also introduced at this level with the goal of establishing the basic skills and technique involved in performing more complex acrobatic moves as they get older. Skills will include cardio, strength and flexibility training as well as balance & limbering skills and some basic tumbling moves. Classes are more structured but still maintain and emphasize having fun! Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production.

Kinder dance - Tap/Pre-Primary & Primary Ballet - Ages 5/6 - (45 - 60 min per week)
This Kinder dance class continues to work upon the basic tap skills established in the creative kids dance program. An introduction into exploring the world of classical dance movement is also highlighted. Classes will incorporate basic centre and travelling movements. Improvisation, and simple choreography emphasize the joy of dancing. Dancers will perform 2 routines in the year end production but will only require one costume.

Ages 7&Up
Ages 7 Years Old And Up
Tap: (45 - 60 min per week)
This form of dance is becoming increasingly popular. These are non-syllabus classes concentrating on rhythms and combinations incorporating every style of tap. Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production and will require one costume.
Pre-requisite - 7 years of age and up.

Jazz: (45 - 60 min per week)
Jazz is a popular dance form, as the Top 40 music is often used in class. A combination of different styles and funk moves, as well as technique is covered in class. Ballet class enhances jazz technique. Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production and will require one costume.
Pre-requisite - 7 years of age and up.

Street Jazz & Hip-Hop classes: (45 - 60 min per week)
STREET JAZZ: Fancy something a bit more hip and trendy? Want to get down and funky? Then our street dance & Hip-Hop classes are probably more your thing! Street Jazz dancing (or street dance, as it is also known) is the most commercial style of modern dance; used mostly in music videos, on tours and by backing dancers. This unique style of dance is taken from the classical elements of Jazz, but placed in the modern environment.
HIP-HOP classes will focus on various styles of hip hop, i.e. popping, locking, breaking, krump, house, stomp, freestyle, animation, and many more. Hip hop moves and technique have inspired the youth today in regards to music, fashion, and TV shows. Never done Street dance or hip-hop before? Come along and give it a go. Every move is broken down slowly and you’ll soon get the hang of it. Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production and will require one costume.
Pre-requisite - students must be 7 years of age AND currently enrolled in a jazz technique class.

Acrobatic Dance & Dancers Conditioning Class: (60 min per week)
The ACROBATIC program is designed to teach dancers to excel through all forms of technique including flexibility, limbering, tumbling and strength. Implementing the Acrobatic Arts syllabus will progress dancers through skills with fewer accidents and are less likely to develop chronic injuries. Dancers will become stronger, balanced and more flexible and fearless. Students will learn the proper progressions and skills to be ready to perform one routine in the year end production. This will require one costume. NEW THIS SEASON: Acrobatic Arts Exams will be offered to students who are ready to excel in their chosen exam level. Dancers will be placed into classes/exams based on their skill level and instructor judgement.
ACRO Pre-requisite - 7 years of age and up AND enrolled in a dance technique class of their choice. For more info please watch the VIDEO.

Classical Ballet: (45 - 60 min per week)
Ballet is a fundamental dance form. It develops grace, coordination, and correct posture. Classes embrace elements from the Royal Academy of Dancing Syllabus (R.A.D.) including character work (national folk dance adapted for the stage), as well as many other methods of training the classical dancer, with consideration to the once-a-week student. Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production and will require one costume.
Pre-requisite - 7 years of age and up.

Pre-Pointe and Pointe: (30-45 min per week)
Pointe work demands a good understanding of the foundations of classical technique and posture. Strong feet and ankles are a must. New students will begin by taking class on demi-pointe and will only be allowed on pointe when the instructor deems the student ready. During the first three classes, all students will participate en demi-pointe. The last 15 minutes will be dedicated to understanding pointe shoes, pointe shoe care, foot care, and expected responsibilities of the dancer. Year end performance will be decided upon by the instructor at a later date.
Pre-requisite - 9 years of age AND currently enrolled in a classical ballet technique class.

Lyrical/Contemporary: (45 - 60 min per week)
Lyrical/Contemporary dance borrows from jazz, ballet, funk, social dance styles and many modern dance styles of the 20th century. This dance forms encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation. It focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use and safe body alignment. Expression from inner emotions is a primary factor in choreographing and interpreting this art form. Lyrical/contemporary dance interprets music and words, showing the emotion of the contents of the music. Dancers will perform 1 routine in the year end production and will require one costume.
Pre-requisite - 7 years of age and up AND currently enrolled in either a classical ballet technique class OR jazz technique class.

Classes
Teen & Adult
NEW: Teen Tap/Jazz/Ballet/Lyrical & Hip-Hop Programs (Kimberley location only)
These new classes are designed for the dance beginner or students who have limited or no formal training and wish to try something fun and new. These classes are for ages 10 years and up and will only be offered if there is enough expressed interest. Dancers will perform in the year end production and will require a costume.
Pre-requisite - 10 years of age and up.

Adult Classes: 10 Week Programs
These classes are designed for the recreational adult dancer who is looking to develop their dancing skills in a fun and relaxing social atmosphere. Classes offered this year will include Adult Tap, Adult Hip-Hop & Adult Heels Class. Classes will be offered in 10 week sessions (Oct & Jan )
NOTE: Classes will only be available if there is enough expressed interest. Year end performance opportunity is optional and will also be considered if there is expressed interest. (Note, Due to limited studio availability, Adult street jazz will only be offered this season at our Cranbrook studio location).

Alumni Classes: 10 Week Programs
These classes are designed for the returning dancer with past experience. Whether you danced 5, 10 or 15 years ago...come join us for exercise, learn new dance skills and have some good old laughs as you relive your dancing years. Classes will be offered in 10 week sessions (Oct & Jan ).
NOTE: These classes will not be available for the 2022-2023 season due to limited scheduling availability at both studio locations. We encourage our past Alumni dancers to join us in the Adult dance program.
